July 2008 - Great New Characters published by Zeixs is a compilation of artists who come up with different unique character designs. Artists who uses a number of different ways to create their characters which may consist of digital, plush, paper, vinyl, and textile. Jan. 26, 2008 - Feb. 17, 2008 - Beep Beep Gallery presents "Nostalgia: Pop Art from Childhood". A group show about images from our childhood, particularly in reference to the Alf's, Panthro's, and Jem's of our childhoods. Muppets, glow worms, the tootsie roll commercial with the Owl that says " Ah three!"; our memories of these charaters and stories are inextricably linked to our developement, and are often recalled as easily as our first kiss or the time we broke our arm. We were bombarded with these fantastical creatures and peoples through television, movies, magazines, and video games at an age when we possesed few filters for information. Dec 3, 2007 - Dec 31, 2007 - Brian Marki Fine Art presents "Urban Smile". A group show featuring a collection of work being made by up and coming artists from across the United States. This work exemplifies a playful inspiration that draws reference from the pop- culture of graffiti and graphic design. In all, these works exemplify a highly stylized attitude to the process of creation and together they find resonance in their subtle incongruities. After a 2-month online design contest, Play Imaginative and Coca-Cola have found 15 deserving winners to grace their new Trexi series of toys, based on the theme "A Better Tomorrow". These 15 young designers Michiel Baumgarten, Jason Kochis, Massimiliano Panzironi, Samuel Jr. Sanchez Cuevas, Chi Wan Jun, Xin Jing, Yu Shi, Huang Shao Yan & Fang Jing Hui, Eloisa Lopez Maldonado-Eloole, Laetitia Jalaguier, Scott Higgins, Jasmine Ong, Jackey Woo, Berenice Martinez Vallejo, and Massimiliano Panzironi will join 10 other renowned and established designers Tokidoki, Sket One, Bloo Empire, JiJi, Saner, Niark, Cupco, Mad Barbarians, Pulco Mayo, and Colorblok. Designers from various parts of the world submitted their work online through a call for submissions, and only the top 15 emerged winners in the global online poll for the best use of expressing their passion for design and for the Coca-Cola brand by using their unique art styles and trexi to portray their vision of "A Better Tomorrow". Entries were judged by a combination of public voting as well as the judges' choices.
